Sustainability has been embedded in Crescent Petroleum’s business since our establishment in 1971.
As we have developed the Middle East’s natural gas resources, we have consistently championed natural gas as a practical alternative to higher-carbon fuels. Through disciplined operations and continuous efficiency improvements, we seek to produce and deliver it more responsibly across our operations.
Since 2008, our operations have helped the region avoid over 58 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by replacing liquid fuels with cleaner-burning natural gas. As we expand operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and develop our new projects in Diyala and Basra Governorates in Federal Iraq, this contribution continues to grow.
By integrating emissions management, technology upgrades, and continuous process optimisation into daily operations, we strengthen resilience while reducing environmental intensity. Responsible performance supports stable production, disciplined cost control, and sustained competitiveness.
We actively participate in industry-led initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide and methane, across the value chain.

Our operations helped create 10,000 direct jobs in the KRI and an additional 10,000 indirect jobs in our first decade of operations in the region.
